ORIGEN is a sustainable design studio in Bergen-Lafayette, Jersey City. We design and produce 3D-printed objects from recycled PET and PLA — material we collect, process, and turn into products ourselves. Circular Verified is the program that codifies that process for the wider 3D printing community.
After two years recovering plastic from our Hudson County neighborhood and turning it into real products, we kept hearing the same thing from peer studios: "We want to be circular but we can't prove it."
The problem isn't intent. It's infrastructure. Most 3D printing studios don't have the capacity to recycle their own scrap, and the studios that do don't have a community-facing layer to verify what's been recovered. Meanwhile, brands wanting to source from circular makers have no way to audit the claim.
Circular Verified by ORIGEN sits in the middle. Studios send material in, we process it, the public registry shows the receipts. The mark is only as valuable as the integrity rule behind it — which is why we don't let anyone display it without the diversion record to back it up.
Circular Verified is built in partnership with Precious Plastic NY, the regional node of the global Precious Plastic community. Their decade of community education and material-recovery work anchors the program in something real — public workshops, school programming, and a network of people who care about closing the loop, not just talking about it.
